Frequently asked questions

How do I play?

Drag to rotate the cube to any angle, then tap a face. Every tile slides toward that face, and matching numbers merge into their double. Reach 2,048 and keep going. The cube fills as you play, so the game ends when there are no merges left.

What are wild and spawner tiles?

Wild tiles (shown with a "?") merge with any number — handy for breaking up a stuck board. Spawner tiles appear on 5³ cubes and larger; they merge normally but drop one extra block onto the cube, raising both the reward and the risk.

How does the daily challenge work?

Each day everyone gets the same deterministic cube. It resets at your local midnight (anchored to our server's clock, so changing your device time won't unlock it early). Complete it seven days in a row to earn seven days ad-free.

How do leaderboard names work?

Names are global and unique — first come, first served. Your first name is free to claim; changing it later may require the Remove Ads subscription. Names are filtered for profanity. You can play without ever choosing a name; your bests are kept on your device until you do.

What does Remove Ads include, and how do I cancel?

Remove Ads is an optional $1.99/month subscription that hides banner and interstitial ads in the iPhone app. Manage or cancel anytime in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → ByteCube. You keep ad-free access until the end of the current period. A 7-day daily streak also unlocks 7 days ad-free for free.

How do I restore my subscription?

On a new device or after reinstalling, open Settings inside the app and tap "Restore Purchases." Your subscription will be restored from your Apple ID. Scores stored only on a previous device cannot be transferred.

Do I need an account or internet?

No. Every cube size is fully playable offline with no sign-up. An internet connection is only used for the optional worldwide leaderboard.

I lost my progress. Can it be recovered?

Progress and best scores are stored on your device (or in your browser). Clearing browser data or deleting the app removes them, and we can't recover on-device data. We recommend keeping device backups via iCloud.

Is there an iPhone app?

The native iPhone app is on its way to the App Store. For now you can try a free 3³ demo in your browser. Check the ByteCube page for the App Store link once it's live.
