Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of ByteCube ("the Game"), provided by Bytecove Software, whether you play the free demo in your web browser or in the ByteCube iPhone app. By playing, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Game.

1. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use ByteCube for your own non-commercial entertainment. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the Game or its assets except as permitted by law.

2. The daily challenge & fair play

The daily challenge generates the same deterministic puzzle for all players and resets at your local midnight, anchored to our server's time. You agree not to manipulate your device clock, tamper with game data, or use automated tools to gain leaderboard advantage. We may remove scores we reasonably believe were obtained by such means.

3. Leaderboard names & conduct

• Display names are globally unique and claimed on a first-come basis. Your first name is free; changing it later may require the subscription.
• Names are filtered for profanity. We may reject, reset, or reclaim names that are offensive, impersonating, infringing, or abusive.
• You are responsible for the name you submit and agree not to post unlawful or objectionable content.
• There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. In the app you can report any offensive name and block any player from your leaderboard. We remove objectionable entries and may eject abusing users, typically within 24 hours.

4. Purchases & subscriptions

• ByteCube is free to play. The iPhone app offers an optional Remove Ads auto-renewable subscription at $1.99/month (the "ByteCube Plus" group).
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Manage or cancel anytime in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Prices may vary by region and are shown before purchase.
• Completing the daily challenge seven days in a row grants seven days ad-free at no charge.

5. Disclaimer of warranties

The Game is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Game will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that scores or progress will always be preserved.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bytecove Software shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or loss of data or progress, arising from your use of the Game. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months preceding the claim.

7. Changes

We may update the Game and these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

8. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Bytecove Software operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

9. Apple

For the iPhone app, these Terms are between you and Bytecove Software, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the Game or its support, but is a third-party beneficiary entitled to enforce these Terms. The Apple Media Services Terms also apply to purchases.
