How it works

Three taps from simple to obsessed

If you've played 2048, you already know the rules. The third dimension is the twist.

1

Rotate the cube

Drag anywhere to spin the cube in 3D and line up the angle you want to play. Every side is in reach.

2

Tap a face

Tap any face and all the tiles on the cube slide inward toward it — your whole board moves at once.

3

Merge to 2,048

Equal numbers collide and double. Keep the cube from filling up, and chase 2,048 — then keep going.

What's inside

A whole new dimension for a classic

Everything you love about merge puzzles, wrapped around a cube and tuned for replay.

A new cube every day

One deterministic daily puzzle — the same seed for every player on Earth. Resets at your local midnight, anchored to server time so a tweaked clock can't skip ahead.

From 3³ to 10³

Warm up on a gentle 3×3×3, or take on a 1,000-cell 10³ monster. Free practice on any size, any time, with progressive levels to unlock.

Wild & spawner tiles

Wild tiles merge with anything to rescue a stuck board. Spawner tiles (5³ and up) merge normally but drop an extra block — equal parts gift and gamble.

Worldwide leaderboards

Weekly and all-time boards, per cube size or overall, with globally-unique names. Live polling and pull-to-refresh keep the race honest.

Streaks that pay off

Clear the daily challenge seven days in a row and earn seven days completely ad-free — no purchase, just consistency.

Plays fully offline

No account, no connection needed. Every size runs offline with your best scores saved on-device — go online only for the leaderboard.

The tiles

Every block, straight from the game

From a humble slate 2 to a glowing brand-teal 2,048 — you'll learn the ramp by heart.

The daily challenge

One cube. Everyone. Every day.

Each day, ByteCube hands the entire world the exact same cube — identical size, identical seed. No two days play alike, and there's no luck to hide behind: it's you versus the same puzzle as everyone else.

Build a streak, climb the daily board, and watch your best. Seven days straight unlocks a week ad-free.

Frequently asked questions

What is ByteCube?

ByteCube is a 3D version of the merge puzzle 2048. Instead of a flat grid, the numbers live on a rotating cube. You spin the cube to any angle, tap a face, and every tile slides inward — matching numbers double. It's simple to start and hard to put down, with a new daily puzzle and cube sizes from 3³ up to 10³.

Is ByteCube free to play?

Yes. You can play a free 3³ demo right now in your browser, and the iPhone app (coming soon) is free as well. The iPhone app is supported by ads, with an optional Remove Ads subscription for $1.99/month — and completing the daily challenge seven days in a row unlocks seven days ad-free for free.

How do you play ByteCube?

Drag to rotate the cube, then tap one of its faces. Every tile on the cube slides toward that face, and any two equal numbers that collide merge into their double. Keep merging to reach 2,048 and beyond. The board fills as you play, so the game ends when no moves are left — the real challenge is choosing which face to push next.

What are wild and spawner tiles?

Wild tiles merge with any number, giving you a way out of a stuck board. Spawner tiles, which appear on 5³ cubes and larger, merge normally but drop one extra block onto the cube — they help and hurt at the same time, raising the density and the risk.

How does the daily challenge work?

Every day ByteCube generates one deterministic cube — the same size and the same seed for every player in the world — so you're all solving the identical puzzle. It resets at your local midnight, anchored to server time so changing your device clock won't unlock the next one early. Chase your best and climb the daily leaderboard.

Do I need an account or an internet connection?

No account is required and every cube size is fully playable offline. Your best scores are stored on your device. The only time ByteCube goes online is to show the optional worldwide leaderboard, where you can post a self-chosen display name with your score.

When is the iPhone app coming out?

The native iPhone version of ByteCube is on the way to the App Store. In the meantime you can try a free 3³ demo in your browser. Check back here for the App Store link the moment it's live.
